88 inquiries into train accidents still pending

All seven railway divisions of Pakistan Railways including Lahore have so far failed to complete any of the pending 88 inquiries into the train accidents, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Lahore Railway Headquarters has issued warning letters to all divisions and directed to pace up and complete the inquiries as soon as possible.
More than 120 people had been killed in the 88 accidents, the TV channel reported.
The inquiries of 17 serious accidents in Lahore Division have not been completed, 32 train accidents inquiries in Karachi Division, 20 in Multan Division, 12 in Sukkur Division, five accidents in Quetta Division and two inquiries are pending in Rawalpindi Division.
Lahore Railway Headquarters in a circular issued to all seven divisions directed to complete inquiry reports of all train accidents and send them to Lahore Headquarters at the earliest.
Pakistan Railways headquarters wanted to know the causes of the train accidents and keeping in view of these reasons, could take practical steps to address the important issues.
Founded in 1861, Pakistan Railways owns 4,800 miles (7,791 km) of track across the country.
