Due to the shortening of the academic year after smog and other holidays, the Punjab School Education Department has started considering ending the Saturday holiday in schools, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

After the opening of the schools, educational activities will continue for six days instead of five days.

According to educationists the academic year began to shrink with unscheduled holidays in Punjab which was limited to only 112 days.

On the other hand experts said according to international standards, the academic year should be 245 days.

Experts further said in view of the current smog situation, more holidays may be given in schools.

For the first time, the holidays were given in the beginning of November while winter vacations have also been increasing for the past few years.

The winter holidays in the next month of December are also around the corner.

Teachers said in this regard that the students of 9th and 10th class are suffering a special loss due to more vacations.

The government has also refused to call teachers to school, said the education expert.

In such a situation, it has also become difficult to conduct online classes, said the education expert.
