Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday expressed serious concern over a string of incidents in Lahore including the girl molestation at Minar-e-Pakistan and removed a number of police officers from their posts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A belligerent Usman Buzdar gave a dressing-down to the police force high-ups while chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore.

The chief minister came down hard on the top cops for the police’s sluggish and delayed response to the crime incidents in Lahore particularly the girl molestation

The CM was furious over the negligence of the police officers from the duty. “The people pin their hopes on the police and they should perform their duty in accordance with the public’s wishes,” he added.

On the orders of the chief minister, DIG Operations has been made an OSD. SSP Operations and SP have also been removed from their posts and were directed to report to the CPO office.

For the negligence of duty and delayed response, DSP and SHO Lorry Adda have been suspended.

Project Director Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan) and Deputy Director have also been suspended.

The Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) presented a final preliminary inquiry report into the girl molestation case to the Punjab chief minister at the meeting and also briefed the CM about all the aspects of the incident.

The top Punjab cop also informed the CM in detail about the police's lukewarm response and about the arrests and identification of the people involved in the gruesome incident.

The Punjab Housing Secretary also presented a report to the chief minister about the security duties of the Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) staff and their negligence at the Greater Iqbal Park.

Usman Buzdar said whoever had shown negligence will face the music. 

Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat, IGP, additional chief secretary home, principal secretary to the CM and others attended the meeting.
