Indian Punjab Congress president and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday visited Kartarpur Gurdwara to attend the celebrations of the 552nd birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
Indian Sikh pilgrims continued to arrive in Pakistan and perform religious rites at Baba Guru Nanak's birthday celebrations at Kartarpur.
A delegation of Sikhs along with Navjot Singh Sidhu also reached Kartarpur on Saturday, performed their religious rites and later returned back to India.
On arrival at Kartarpur, Navjot Singh Sidhu and his delegation were given a warm and hearty welcome.
This is the second visit of Navjot Singh Sidhu to Pakistan after the inauguration of Kartarpur in 2019.
Sidhu had visited Kartarpur in 2019 when he was formally invited by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Kartarpur corridor links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Indian Punjab's Gurdaspur district.
Pakistan and India have agreed to allow only fully vaccinated individuals to undertake the pilgrimage. This means that all pilgrims will have to carry a negative RT-PCR report and Covid-19 vaccination certificates.
Just four months after it had been opened to pilgrims, the corridor was closed in March 2020 in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
