The government has removed reservations about the proposed constitutional amendments, Jamiat Ulema Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said.

“There is no major contentious point regarding this bill. The government has removed all the reservations we raised in the initial draft,” he said while addressing a joint press conference with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

However, Fazl said that JUI still feels strong concerns about pressuring parliamentarians.

He said he held talks with the PTI leadership and they asked for time till morning.

He added: “After that, we will present it to the Parliament and get it approved by consensus.

“We took PTI into confidence for a month and the consultation continued. They were informed about the negotiations with the government.

“The leadership of PTI in Islamabad expressed their desire to meet Imran Khan to get his nod for the consensus.”

He said the PTI complained about the government's attitude while a message of positive attitude from the party founder was conveyed to him.

“We are waiting for the PTI’s positive response. After that, the bill will be debated in the parliament per its rules and regulations.

Bilawal expressed hope that PTI would give Fazl a positive answer.

He also hoped Fazl would convince PTI to agree and the JUI would introduce the bill in the Parliament.

Earlier after holding a meeting with Fazl, Bilawal Bhutto told the media that PPP and JUI have developed a ‘100 per cent’ agreement on the proposed draft of the constitutional amendments.

He said the proposed draft belonged to JUI and PPP at the same time.

He said that the proposed amendments are aimed at the supremacy of the parliament.

Bilawal said the proposed draft which Maulana Fazl will present in the parliament has been written by the JUI chief himself.

He said that PPP has tried its maximum best to create consensus but now the ball is in PTI’s court.
