Germany's largest union IG Metall said Thursday that it would call on employees at Volkswagen to hold strikes starting December 1, as the automaker looked to implement a drastic cost-cutting plan.
"We will recommend to the collective bargaining committee that we call for warning strikes at Volkswagen's locations when the no-strike obligation expires, that is to say from December 1," IG Metall negotiator Thorsten Groeger told reporters after a third round of talks.
