A study by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine reveals that family income is directly linked to the height of your children, with wealth being the second most significant factor after genetics.
US scientists found that while 70-80 percent of how tall we become lies with the genes we inherit, the remainder is actually determined by our environment.
The findings suggest wealthier families provide better nutrition and societal resources that promote growth.
Researchers analyzed data from over 13,000 Hispanic and Latino Americans, presenting their findings at the American Heart Association Conference.
Wealth was also associated with better heart and cognitive health, though lifestyle factors like obesity could offset these benefits in adulthood.
This echoes previous studies linking poorer nutrition to shorter average heights in less affluent areas.
