Army chief for saving people from 'social media ills'

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has stressed that the state should save its people from 'social media ills'.

“It is the responsibility of the state to keep its people away from the implications of mischief caused by social media,” he said while addressing the youth in Islamabad.

He added: "Pakistan's greatest and most valuable asset is our youth. We will not let this asset go to waste.”

The army chief urged the youth to be optimistic and never lose hope, saying: “As Muslims, we are forbidden from despair.

“The sparkles in your eyes make one believe the future of Pakistan is in safe hands.

“Where are those who were creating the default narrative?”

 He shed light on the importance of education, unity, and resilience in coping with challenges.

Citing the situations in Libya, Syria, Kashmir, and Gaza, he urged understanding the value of an independent state.

“If you want to know the importance of a free state, ask the people of Libya, Syria, Kashmir, and Gaza.”

He stressed the need for a strong bond between the people, government, and the army, stating that this unity is crucial for the country’s security and progress.

Later, the COAS held a question-answer session with the youth and explained the army position

Regarding the Parachinar riots, the Army Chief said that the tribes should sit together and help to settle disputes.

He heaped praise on the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for standing by the army in the war on terror for 22 years. He said the victory in the war on terror will be clinched soon.
