Pakistan’s opening batter Abdullah Shafique added an unfortunate milestone to his cricketing career during the third ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg.
The 25-year-old became only the sixth Pakistani cricketer to register three consecutive ducks in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Shafique’s struggles with the bat began in the series opener, where he was dismissed for a duck after facing only four deliveries.
The second ODI saw no improvement as he fell for another duck on his second ball. The streak continued in the third ODI, sealing his place in an exclusive but undesirable list.
The group of Pakistani cricketers with this record includes former players such as Shoaib Mohammad, Shadab Kabir, Mohammad Wasim, Shoaib Malik, and Salman Butt.
Despite this setback, Shafique remains a talented player with immense potential. Fans and cricket experts alike hope the young batter will bounce back strongly in upcoming matches and reclaim his form on the international stage.
