Punjab government Tuesday banned establishing cattle markets in the provincial capital due to the alarming spread of the coronavirus continues in the city.
Lahore is the worst-hit city in Punjab in terms of coronavirus cases with almost 50 percent coronavirus cases of the province have been reported in the provincial capital. The Punjab government has also imposed smart lockdown in different areas of the city and to impose lockdown complete areas instead of specific blocks to slow down the spread of the virus.
However, the provincial government is pondering different options to help people buy the sacrificial animals on the eve of the Eid-al-Azha. For this purpose, the government is finalising the SOPs for the sale of the sacrificial animals and would announce the same in next few days.
The Punjab government is likely to give permission of establishing sale points for the sacrificial animals outside the city limits in areas which are less populous.
