Shangla shivers as heavy snowfall blankets valley

Heavy rains continued to lash the plains of Shangla Valley while heavy snowfall also covered the upper hilly areas intensifying the cold, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday. 

Pakistan Meteorological Office said that a strong westerly wave is affecting the upper and central parts of the country and may persist in the upper parts till Wednesday (morning).

On Tuesday more rain wind-thunderstorms (snow over high mountains in upper parts) were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, upper Punjab and Islamabad. 

Hailstorms were recorded at a few places, while heavy falls were also observed in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the period.

In Lahore, rain wind-thunderstorm lashed the city in the dead of the night.

Tuesday’s recorded lowest minimum temperatures: Kalam -03 and Malam Jabba -02.

In the past 24 Hour (Monday) rain-thunderstorms occurred in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North/Central Balochistan, Kashmir, upper Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan. While snowfall occurred in Kalam, Malamjabba and Astore.
