Many injured as rival student groups clash at Punjab University

Several students were injured in a clash between two student organizations in Punjab University Lahore on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, students of Geology Department and the School of Economics in Punjab University's New Campus attacked each other with sticks and stones.
The channel reported that students of an organization entered the class and tortured a student that provoked the rival group existing in the daprtment.
Resultantly, both the groups hit each other with sticks and pelted stones that injured many students in the colision.
It is worth mentioning that every year, Punjab University witnessed many violent clashes between student organizations.
Last year on March 1, Lahore police detained more than 45 students following a clash between two students’ groups at Punjab University.
Police sources revealed that the clash occurred between activists of Pakhtun organization and Punjab Council on the premises of the varsity.
Both parties used weapons during the clash, which resulted in injuries to numerous students, including the main suspect Haseeb, who was rushed to hospital for medical assistance.
The university administration called the police after the clash to control the situation.
On October 10, 2022, a clash between two student groups erupted at the Punjab University (PU), leaving some of them injured.
The fight was started outside the Law College between Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) and Pakhtun Student Council. The students pelted stones at each other, leaving some of the students injured.
As soon as police reaches the spot, fighting students disappeared.
