Man who raped teen girl awarded death by Lahore court

A model court in Lahore on Saturday awarded death sentence to a rapist who had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Model Court Judge Mian Shahid Javed pronounced the sentence and also imposed Rs1 million fine on convict Rafiq.

The rape case was registered against Rafiq at Satu Kutla police station in March 2019.

In case of non-payment of fine, the convict would have to spend another six months in jail, the court ordered.

Rafiq was shifted to the Kot Lakhpat Jail soon after the pronouncement of his death sentence.

However, the court barred the jail authorities to execute its order unless the Supreme Court endorses his death sentence.

In case of implementation, the court further ordered to leave the body of the convict on the gallows until his soul leaves the body.
