Workshop on "Peer Review in Medical Writing" held at KEMU

Department of Community Medicine, King Edward Medical University held a workshop on "Peer Review in Medical Writing" in collaboration with KE Alumni, KEMCAANA, KEMCA-UK and APPNA as part of Post-Symposium Workshops on the occasion of 42nd Annual International Scientific Symposium 2022.
The august gathering of experts, both in person and virtual, included Prof. Dr. Abdul Majeed Chaudhry, Founder Chief Editor, Annals of King Edward Medical University as Patron in Chief; Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid, Chief Editor, Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences as Chief Guest and Dr. Tabinda Dugal, Chairperson KEMCA-UK as Guest of Honour. The eminent presence of the Vice Chancellor, KEMU, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz as Patron of the workshop was a source of great encouragement to the participants and the organizing team.
The academic fraternity of Medical Education from various institutions across the country participated enthusiastically.
Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal presented a very descriptive overview of Journal of Annals of King Edward Medical University and said that the journal is present in many notable databases without utilizing any finances.
Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal requested Dr. Tabinda Dugal, Prof. Dr. M. Amjad and Prof. Dr. Munir Akhtar Saleemi to write a guest editorial for the upcoming issue of Annals of King Edward Medical University and recognised the outstanding services of KEMCA-UK for holding exclusive programs for the reviewers of Annals of King Edward Medical University.
Dr. Saira Tariq, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, said that the entire team of Annals of KEMU has toiled day and night under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saira Afzal taking it to the next level. She asserted that "Plagiarism" is inarguably the most significant form of scientific misconduct and severe breach of research integrity. Dr. Shahzad Saleem described how the online system of OJS works. Prof. Dr. Akhtar Sherin highlighted the importance of Peer Review in Medical Writing.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, mentioned that the foundation of scientific knowledge is trust and Peer Review is an integral component of this trust.
The need to instate a policy involving HEC for International Collaboration was emphasized and agreed upon by all members.
The Vice Chancellor concluded the workshop by awarding certificates to the best reviewers of Annals of King Edward Medical University and all participants.
