PIA engineers demand probe against ex-CEO over corruption

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) engineers’ organization Society of Aircraft Engineers (SAEP) has written a letter to the board of directors regarding alleged kickbacks and corruption in aircraft leasing of national carrier, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In the letter, SAEP alleged that former CEO of PIA Amir Hayat allegedly involved in kickbacks and corruption in aircraft leasing.
Two aircraft were stuck in Indonesia for 26 months due to lease issues, text of letter said.
Text of letter further said that former CEO threw dust in the eyes of Caretaker Aviation Advisor and Secretary Aviation by adding the aircraft to the fleet by declaring them as new aircraft during the caretaker government.
President SAEP Abdullah Jadoon demanded an investigation into alleged corruption and kickbacks in aircraft leasing against former CEO of PIA Amir Hayat.
He further demanded PIA Board of Directors to conduct a transparent investigation into alleged corruption in aircraft leasing.
On the lease issues of the third Airbus 320 aircraft parked in Karachi, millions of dollars were also paid, PIA Engineers Organization alleged.
PIA SAEP President also attached pictures of planes and link to PIA's YouTube channel in the letter.
SAEP demanded PIA Board of Directors to investigate alleged irregularities worth billions of rupees against former CEO Aamir Hayat, irregularities worth billions of rupees will be revealed.
Board of Directors to take steps for the improvement and development of PIA.
