Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat likely to be appointed PIA acting CEO

Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Amir Hayat is likely to be appointed acting chief executive officer of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). 

A requisition has been sent to the government along with the recommendations of the PIA board of directors. Matters such as PIA’s privatization and resumption of PIA flights to the United Kingdom were focused in the requisition. The measures taken by Amir Hayat for PIA’s betterment during the four years of his deputation have also been mentioned in the requisition.

The requisition says that Amir Hayat should be appointed acting CEO of the PIA until appointment of a permanent CEO of the airline. In addition to sending a requisition to the government for appointment of Amir Hayat as action CEO of the PIA, the board of directors has also published an advertisement for appointment of a permanent CEO to the national flag carrier. Applications have been invited from suitable candidates by December 26. 

On August 10, 2023, PIA appointed Hayat as CEO for one year.
