Man shoots young sister dead for 'honour' in Chunian

Another young girl has fallen victim to an honour killing as a brother shot and killed his sister in a horrifying act of honour killing on Monday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the accused Atif shot a bullet in the head of his 22-year-old sister Mehwish.
The young girl didn't survive after receiving a bullet in her head and died on the spot.
The murderer Atif then fled the scene.
Upon receiving the honour killing report, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Chunia Rana Zahid Ali, along with the crime scene team and a large contingent of police, rushed to the site and started investigations.
DSP Rana Zahid Ali stated that the accused Atif has escaped from the crime scene and a special team has been formed to ensure his swift arrest.
According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, around 1,000 women are killed in the name of honour every year in the country.
The victims of honour killings are widely perceived to have brought shame and dishonour to their families either by marrying against their will or having an affair.
