PTI senior leader and lawyer Shoaib Shaheen, while addressing the media after the Lawyers' Convention at the Mansehra Bar, Monday emphasized the Supreme Court's detailed decision following its July 12 short order.
He criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for not implementing the court's ruling, claiming it hadn't received the detailed verdict.
Shaheen suggested that contempt of court action should be taken against the ECP for obstructing democracy and removing PTI’s bat symbol, leaving candidates without a party mark.
He stated that the court affirmed PTI's status as a political party and upheld its voters' right to a party symbol.
He also criticized the ECP for being a "haven for criminal elements" and called for its members' resignation.
Shaheen warned that if the Supreme Court's decision is not implemented, PTI will file a contempt of court petition, and the court should take suo motu notice of the situation.
He further argued that Parliament is incomplete and the government has no right to amend the Constitution until its full formation. Shaheen stressed the importance of the people’s right to rule under the constitution, saying PTI stands for the protection of these rights.
