Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has postponed his upcoming visit to Bangladesh amid heightened tensions with India over the Kashmir issue.

According to the 24NewsHD TV Channel, the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka released a statement late Thursday quoting the Foreign Office in Islamabad, confirming the postponement.

Dar was scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on a two-day official visit next Sunday.

The dates for the ministerial-level talks were finalized during Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch’s visit to Dhaka on April 17.

Several bilateral agreements were expected to be signed during Dar’s now-postponed visit.

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh had been working diligently to finalise these matters ahead of the trip.
