Dispelling the impression that he was cross with the PML-N leadership, former prime minister and Awam Pakistan Party chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Wednesday that he decided to part ways with the party when the latter preferred coming to power rather than giving respect to ‘vote’, reported 24News TV channel.

Speaking to the media in Sukkur, Abbasi said it was a fact that despite being in power, the PML-N was not a popular party. “I dissociated myself from the ruling party not for my own interests.”

He said that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was receiving training in jail. “Whenever a politician goes to jail, he undergoes training,” he elaborated.

He said that every party had a manifesto, but the problem was that it failed to deliver on it. “Not a single government has been able to provide facilities to the masses.”

Abbasi said he had reached Sukkur for organising the party. “People belonging to different cities of the country have joined the Awam Pakistan Party,” he informed.

The former prime minister was of the view that the government and the opposition should sort out their differences in the parliament rather than washing their dirty linen in public. “But the question is what is being discussed these days is in the benefit of the country or its people?” he questioned, and added, “Certainly not.”

Abbasi said whenever there were issues in a country like the ones being witnessed these days, there was bound to be foreign interference.

He said this categorically that no province could deprive the other province of its share in the water resources.
