The federal cabinet has approved a package to compensate the families of five Chinese engineers who had lost their lives in the Dasu terror attack, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Quoting its sources, the channel reported that a total $2580,000 would be distributed among the families of the deceased; with each family receiving $516,000.

Sources informed that Pakistan’s embassy in Beijing would hand over the amounts.

Similarly, they said, the family of the only Pakistani citizen, who had died in the attack, would get Rs2.5 million.

The Chinese nationals, working on the Dasu Dam project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), were killed on March 26, 2024 when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy near Besham city.

The convoy was on its way from capital Islamabad to Dasu, the site of a key hydroelectric dam being built by a Chinese company, about 270km (167 miles) from the capital.
