The Banking Court in Karachi halted the proceeding of the fake bank accounts case against President Zardari due to his constitutional immunity on Wednesday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Banking Court declared that as long as Asif Ali Zardari is the President of Pakistan, there will be no trial against him.

Farooq H Naik advocate from the accused persons appealed to the banking court that Asif Ali Zardari has become the President of Pakistan and has constitutional immunity so he should be given relief in the case.

The advocate also told the court that Faryal Talpur is busy due to the Assembly session so he should also be given relief of not appearing in the same case.

The court accepted the request for presidential immunity and halted the proceedings against Zardari till he had a cover of Presidentship and adjourned the hearing till July 9, 2024, for the other accused in the case.

In the fake bank account case, President Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, Abdul Ghani and others are accused of making illegal transactions worth millions of rupees by opening fake accounts.

Faryal Talpur did not appear in court on Wednesday.
