Fire guts mobile phone shops in Karachi’s Saddar market

A number of mobile phone shops gutted causing loss of millions of rupees when a massive fire swept through the Saddar market late Monday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The blaze suddenly erupted in one shop and the authorities sent two fire-brigade vehicles to douse it. However, the blaze quickly spread to other shops alarming the owners. As a result, more fire tenders were rushed to the site.
The fire-brigade personnel struggled for hours before they succeeded in extinguishing the fire. By then, several shops were reduced to ashes causing loss of million of rupees to the owners.

The fire-fighters said they broke the locks and shutters of the shops to douse the blaze.
Electronics Dealers Association Chairman Manhaj Gulfam expressed concern over the unprecedented incident.
While the precise cause of the fire remained unknown, initial reports suggested that the narrow alleyways within the market may have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames, engulfing neighbouring shops.
Authorities are actively investigating the root cause of the fire in the Saddar mobile market.
