Gambian laboratories have declared a Pakistan-imported cough syrup contaminated and substandard, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The Gambian lab issued the alert on February 13 last and confirmed ‘Kof Relief’ syrup as substandard and spurious after conducting different tests.
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) also issued an alert on February 20 last.
It merits a mention here that the Central Drug Lab Karachi, which was constructed at a cost of millions of rupees, was unable to notify DRAP about the syrup.
Moreover, the DRAP issued a letter asking medical stores across the country to remove the syrup manufactured by Davis Pharmaceutical, Islamabad.
