KP govt to establish liver, bone marrow transplant units in province

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has decided to establish liver transplant and bone marrow transplant units in the province, Reported 24NewsHD TV channel,

This was decided in a meeting of Health Department, presided over by the Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur on Tuesday.

Provincial Cabinet members Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Muzamil Aslam, Mishal Yousafzai, Chief Secretary, concerned administrative secretaries and the experts of health sectors participated the meeting.

It will be the first Liver and bone marrow transplant centers of the province at the government level.

Initially, the Liver Transplant Center will be established on a limited scale at the Institute of Kidney Diseases Peshawar, it was decided in the meeting.

Later, this transplant center will be shifted to a building under construction at Khyber Medical University on a permanent basis.

The meeting also decided to establish the first Institute of Neurosurgery in the province.

This institute will be established in Fountain House Peshawar.

During meeting, the Chief Minister directed to the Finance Department to provide the funds required for the establishment of these centers on a priority basis.

The Chief Minister also instructed to the concerned authorities to finalize the plans for setting up these centers and submit them for approval.

The plans should provide details of the manpower, funds and medical equipment required for the establishment of these centers as well as their administrative structure, the Chief Minister said.

He instructed workable financial plans should also be arranged to run these centers on a sustainable basis.

In the government hospitals where the facility of dialysis services is available, this facility should be ensured 24 hours a day, the CM directed.

Necessary steps should be taken to start dialysis service in government hospitals where dialysis facility is not available, Chief Minister further instructed.

The CM said health sector is one of the main priorities of the present provincial government and all available resources will be utilized to provide quality treatment facilities to the people of the province.
