Lahore Traffic Police have intensified crackdown against e-challan violators and apprehended a vehicle owner who had evaded challans 91 times, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


City Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar told media that the car owner, who had violated traffic signals 70 times and other rules 21 times, was held on Saturday and was forced to pay his outstanding Rs44,900 challan at the site.


CTO said that now Safe City Punjab and police service centres and driving license issuance management system have been integrated.


Amara Athar said that now onward e-challan defaulters will not be able to get police services, driving licences, character certificates, verification and other 14 facilities.

She said police monitoring teams were standing alert on key highways including The Mall, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, and Wahdat Road.


She said now e-challans were being issued for various violations including traffic signal, lane line, smoke emission and one-way violations.


Moreover, action was being taken against those who try to shun challans by hiding the number plate of the vehicle. She urged the citizens to respect the traffic rules for normal traffic.
