Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who is also a PPP stalwart, said on Saturday that all political parties would have to be on the same page in the present situation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In an interview with 24News at Multan, he said, “We are the people’s representatives and wanted a pro-workers budget.”
The kind of budget, he explained, which should be equally beneficial for women, the youth and minorities living in the country.
“I would like to ask the federal and Punjab governments to first finish those projects in my area which are near completion,” he said, adding, “When I was the country’s prime minister, it was my policy to first complete those projects on whom 70 to 80 per cent work had been done.”
On the defamation bill passed by the Punjab Assembly recently, Gilani said that in order to discuss this and other matters such as those relating to the national budget or political instability in the country, he had gone to Karachi two days ago and had a detailed discussion with PPP Chairman Bilawal butto Zardari. “Bilawal told me that he would first talk to President Asif Ali Zardari on the subject before making any statement,” the acting president said.
