A heartless father sold his innocent daughter of just one and half years old to a beggar for getting Rs25,000 only in Faisalabad, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the report, Faisalabad police had recovered the sold child from the possession of a female bagger and handed her over to the Child Protection Bureau authorities.
The local police have also started legal action against the father for selling his baby girl and the beggar for running the racket of purchasing human babies for the cruel business.
In the wake of economic crisis continuing in the country by coronavirus epidemic, beggary has been increased in Pakistan.
According to the current estimates, there are more than five million beggars in Pakistan and despite an anti-vagrancy act since 1958 that prohibits soliciting for alms in public places, beggars could be observed in every chowk and street of the country.
On the other hand, World Bank showed poverty in Pakistan has increased from 4.4 per cent to 5.4 per cent in 2020 and now it has been increased more after the coronavirus epidemic.
