Old Ravians angered over use of GCU for political meetings

Old Ravians, as association of old students of Lahore’s Government College University, has expressed deep anger and shock after the use of college’s premises for political point-scoring and hate-mongering.

In a tweet, the Old Ravians declared that a highly-politicized vice-chancellor is the last thing an institute like GCU needs.

Earlier, Punjab Governor had taken action against Government College University (GCU) Vice-Chancellor for arranging a political meeting of PTI Chairman Imran Khan at the GCU.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman took notice of conducting a political program of Imran Khan at the GCU. He said it is sad to make the famous educational institution of the country a political arena. There is no room for such political activities in universities, he added.

Governor Baligh said as chancellor, he has taken notice of the political programme on the GCU Lahore campus. He also said children are the future of a nation so, there is no room to push them into politics.

Earlier, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz tweeted against the political meeting of Imran Khan at the GCU and urged strict action against the vice-chancellor. Maryam said that using his post to spread political hatred is a crime and this crime should be punished.

PML-N submits resolution in PA

A resolution has been submitted in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday against the Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU) Lahore for allowing Imran Khan to hold public meeting in the premises of Prestige University, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The resolution was submitted by Member of Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) Aniza Fatima.
