Meta Tuesday added some new monitoring tools for parents to observe the activity of their teens on social media plate forums including Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
As per the new parental control tools, it is suggested to teens to step away from Facebook after 20 minutes, and nudges urging young night-owl Instagrammers to stop scrolling.
Nowadays, Meta and other social media plate forums are facing high pressure from lawmakers over the age of users, especially the under-age and teen users.
Messenger introduced special parental supervision tools for the first time so that parents and guardians can see the time spent on the app, chat history and contact list.
Meta also introduced another feature for parents and kids to chat directly about notifications when their accounts are synced.
Under the new parental control tools on Facebook, Meta prompts teen users to exit the app after 20 minutes.
According to the report, Instagram will add new prompt advising teens to close Instagram if they scroll through Reels videos for too long at night.
The effort builds on Instagram's existing features, such as Silent Mode, which temporarily silences notifications and lets people know when you're trying to focus.
In addition, Instagram is testing a feature that limits people's interactions with people they don't follow. Users must now send an invitation to connect with someone who is not a subscriber and cannot call the recipient or send photos, videos, voice messages, or make calls until the user accepts their request.
The feature aims to restrict unwanted content from strangers, especially women.
