Performing his duties nearly cost a traffic warden his life as a driver almost crushed him to death and later fled the scene on a busy thoroughfare in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The CCTV footage obtained by City42 TV channel, the sister organisation of 24NewsHD, shows the car hitting the warden who was later thrown on the road.
It happened as the driver carried him on the car’s bonnet and drove the vehicle in zigzag, clearly showing his intent to physically harm the traffic official.
But what was the crime committed by the warden, Waseem? He had only stopped the car for using tinted glasses and wanted to issue a challan to the driver who could not be identified yet.
However, the driver did not cooperate with him and refused to show the necessary documents. Instead, he started abusing the official before starting the car and hitting him.

Later, Waseem got a case registered with the Shadman Police Station as the incident occurred on Jail Road.
On October 4 last, unidentified motorcyclists had fired shots at a traffic warden as the official flagged them down for violating the law in Gujranwala. Traffic warden, Ali Akbar, was shifted to Combined Military Hospital.
In early September, a traffic warden even did not spare Capital City Police Officer CCPO Lahore Umer Sheikh and challaned him for not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while driving.
The CCPO who was travelling in his car in plain clothes was stopped by a traffic warden for ignoring traffic guidelines while driving. Traffic warden Khurram ticketed the newly appointed CCPO who was not aware of the senior officer. Later, CPPO Umer Sheikh introduced himself and appreciated the traffic warden’s vigilance.
The CCPO Lahore also announced certificates and prizes for all the three traffic wardens on duty in the area for performing their work vigilantly.
