32 cases lodged, 64 Afghans held over Nov 24 violent protest: RPO Pindi

Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa has said that 32 cases have been registered in connection with the 24th November violent protest of a political party, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a news conference in Rawalpindi along with the CPO Rawalpindi and DPO Attock on Thursday, Babar Alpa said 1,151 protesters have also been arrested and the verification of data has revealed that 64 of them were Afghan nationals.
The RPO Rawalpindi said that the PTI protesters were violent. He said police demonstrated restraint and none of the protestor was injured in Rawalpindi region. He however said the protestors resorted to direct firing on the police and one hundred and seventy police personnel including senior officials were injured on 24th November. He said the police vehicles were also damaged by the protestors.
The CPO Rawalpindi said the protesters also tried to ran over their vehicles on the police deployment.
The DPO Attock said law will take its course against the violent protesters and they will be brought to justice. He said the protesters attacked the police with firearms.
Attock police did not injure any of the protesters, DPO Attock said.
Babar Alpa further said the call for protest turned violent and several officers and officials including SSP and SP were injured due to violence by the protesters.
RPO further said that protesters opened fire directly on the police and threw tear gas, injuring 170 officials and 25 of them were in critical condition.
