Punjab govt to launch Rs100 billion worth ‘targeted subsidy programme’

The PTI-led government of Punjab has decided to launch a big ‘targeted subsidy programme’ of worth Rs100 billion for people of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The provincial government also plans to resume the ‘Ihsas Ration Programme’, which had been stopped by the last PML-N-led government, under which the people belonging to low-income groups would be able to buy food items at cheaper rates.
Likewise under the ‘Ihsas Monetary Assistance Programme, cash would be distributed among poor people.
Likewise, funds will be allocated under the programme for social protection of the people.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has assigned the task to Social Protection Authority to give finishing touches to the subsidy programme.
