The Islamabad High Court Thursday summoned the concerned Superintendent of Police (SP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Shalimar Police Station regarding the case of the missing former security in-charge of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Umar Sultan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq presided over the hearing of the petition filed by Sultan Javed, the father of Umar Sultan, who has been missing since August 26.
According to the petitioner's lawyer, Umar Sultan was arrested by the Islamabad Police without a warrant near a petrol pump in Sector F-10, Islamabad. Despite filing an application at the police station for his recovery, no action was taken.
The petition requests the court to order the production of Umar Sultan, provide details of any cases or detention orders against him, and declare his arrest and abduction illegal. It also calls for an impartial inquiry into his detention and demands action against the officers involved.
The court has summoned the SP and SHO to appear tomorrow and has adjourned the hearing until then.
