Saudi Ambassador in Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki said on Thursday that his country would gift 84,500 shelters and winter kits for the underprivileged people of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, he said that the government of Saudi Arabia was pleased that it was assisting the poor people of Pakistan. “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are brotherly countries,” the ambassador added. 

Al-Malki said that in the first phase, 50,000 winter kits would be distributed among the residents of 50 coldest places of the country. “As many as 16, 000 kits will be distributed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 12,000 in Balochistan, 10,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 6,000 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding, “Similarly, 4,000 kits will be dispatched to Sindh and 2,000 to Punjab.” 

Giving further details, the ambassador said the items, which would be sent to these areas were warm clothes for children and adults as well as quilts, blankets and shawls. 

He said his country wanted to take its relations with Pakistan to new highs.
