Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was released from the Arthur Road jail in Maharashtra’s Mumbai on Saturday, two days after he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in a case related to the seizure of drugs on a luxury cruise off the coast of the Maharashtra capital. After stepping out from the jail some time after 11 am, Aryan returned to Mannat where a massive crowd of fans waited in order to offer support.
Earlier, Aryan was expected to walk out of the prison on Friday evening, but owing to delay in release paperwork, he spent one more night in the jail.
The 23-year-old son of the top actor and seven others was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after it raided Cordelia cruise on October 2 night.
A day later, the federal anti-narcotics agency formally recorded Aryan’s arrest and presented him in court. On October 8, Aryan was lodged in Arthur Road jail. After his bail was rejected twice, his legal team knocked on the doors of the Bombay High Court.
The jail officials earlier Saturday morning opened the bail box to receive his bail orders and other documents required. "The bail order box outside the prison was opened around 5:30 am and the officials collected six to seven bail orders, including those of Aryan. He is expected to be released within an hour,” a jail official said.
