Police failed to produce the record of the case during the hearing of poet Ahmed Farhad’s bail case in session court in Muzaffarabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing, Farhad’s counsel claimed that according to the police, the case was registered at Sadar Police Station in Muzaffarabad but when the family reached there to meet the Poet, they learnt that Farhad was not present in the police station.

Farhad’s counsel told the court that police were not allowing the family to meet Farhad. On the court’s order, SHO Manzar Chughtai promised that the family could visit Farhad at the police station after the hearing.

The court orders the police to bring the record of the case till tomorrow (Saturday). The court also ordered both sides to get ready for arguments in the case. Later the court postponed the hearing of the case till Saturday.

After meeting with Farhad along with his family at Sadar Police Station, counsel Zulqarnain Naqvi claimed that Poet Farhad was not feeling well as he was suffering from jaundice and weight loss.

Naqvi further told the media that the treatment of Ahmed Farhad inside the police station was not possible and he should be referred to the hospital.

Naqvi also claimed it seemed poet Farhad was facing mental torture therefore his mental health was not well. The counsel said that Farhad has not been named in the FIR. He said the incident in which Farhad was nominated happened in Muzaffarabad, while Farhad was in Islamabad and arrested from Islamabad. Farhad had no links with the Action Committee in Kashmir, which was protesting for the acceptance of their demands from the centre.

Naqvi said that the issue of Ahmad Farhad's recovery was under hearing in Islamabad High Court. If he gets bail from Muzaffarabad court, then he will appear in Islamabad High Court.

Naqvi said that Muzaffarabad police instead of giving records, told the session that they have written a letter to the government and want to appoint a special prosecutor in this case.

The counsel said PDSP itself is a special prosecutor and there is no need for more prosecutors as they want to prolong the case. Naqvi further said the court expressed anger on the police plea and directed them that “whatever you have to do tomorrow, there will be arguments in the case.”
