Punjab police have stuck in a critical situation as its ammunition to deal with the violent protesters or long marchers has expired, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the details, senior police officers are worried about the situation as tear gas shells and rubber bullets have become ineffective due to expiry.
The concerned authorities sent the list of modern equipment to IG Punjab in which it is explained that the Punjab Constabulary has 7,755 tear gas shells, 4,858 tear gas guns, and 10,500 rubber bullets.
But, due to expiry, the equipment required to maintain public order cannot be used on violent protesters, the authorities said.
They also demanded new equipment (ammunition) to provide in place of expired items to tackle any unpleasant and violent situation in the province.
The police officials suggested that the required equipment should be sent to the training wing so that it can be used during the training of personnel.
The IG Punjab has told the concerned officers that after seeing the condition of the equipment, it will be decided whether the equipment will be sent to the training branch or disposed of.
