Hafiz Naeem elected Jamaat-i-Islami Amir

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has been elected the sixth Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Amir for a five-year term, the party said on Thursday.

JI Central Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif said the term of the new Amir will be from 2024 to April 2029.

 

 He added: “The Jamaat-e-Islami is a fully democratic party and According to its constitution, regular elections are held at all levels.

“The Jamaat-e-Islami does not belong to any individual or family but to every member and worker.  A total of 46 thousand members from across the country cast their vote through secret ballot.

He mentioned three names – Sirajul Haq, Liaquat Baloch, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman – for the Amir slot. 

 نو منتخب محترم امیر جماعت اسلامی پاکستان حافظ نعیم الرحمان صاحب کو اللہ تعالٰی استقامت عطا فرمائے اور اُن کے انتخاب کو پاکستان ، جماعت اسلامی پاکستان اور اُمتِ مسلمہ کے لئے خیروبرکت کا ذریعہ بنائے۔ثم آمین

 

Hafiz Naeem previously served as the chief of the party’s Karachi chapter. He Naeem is the sixth man to hold the post, following Maulana Abul A’la Maududi (1941-72), Mian Tufail Muhammad (1972-87), Qazi Hussain Ahmed (1987-2008), Munawer Hassan (2008-2013) and Sirajul Haq (2013-2024).
