Hareem Farooq wants to bring Bollywood to Pakistan

May 4, 2020 01:28 PM

The film, theater, and television actress Hareem Farooq is one of the most recognizable and respected names of the Pakistani entertainment industry. Apart from acting, Hareem is one of the very few actresses in the country who have also ventured towards producing films.

Recently, the actress made an appearance on fashion designer HYS’s live stream for an interview and was seen talking about why she would never opt to work in Bollywood, and why that isn’t her dream anymore.

HSY asked Farooq whether she would ever do an Indian film, and her reply was an instant ‘No.’ She said that she was very sure of her answer.

She further explained it by saying that even though she has grown up on Bollywood movies and loves them like any other person. This was the reason why she had it in the back of her head that she wanted to go to Bollywood someday since she is a “Bollywood buff”.

Her thought process changed when she started working and was exposed to the dynamics and creativity in own country.

She saw that there is so much work that needs to be done in the Pakistani movie industry.

The industry had a long way to stand on its own feet and become well-oiled machinery. After the industry went through a boom in filmmaking, she hoped that one day our own film industry would be big enough to bring artists, technicians, directors, and writers from across the border to work with us.

She believes in making ourselves self-sufficient and independent enough that we can collaborate with them in our homeland.

Farooq believed that the times have changed, our industry has changed. This isn’t a dream anymore and can be given the face of reality. She is hopeful that it will happen in the near future.

Farooq aims to bring people to country from across the border. She said that her end goal isn’t Bollywood anymore, like many others. “What happened to Hollywood? Why don’t we aim for that? Why can’t we make that our target?” She believes in taking our films to Hollywood and across the world.

She signed off by saying that she will be over the moon if Indian artists collaborated with us, and we brought them to our industry one day, to which she received a round of applause from HSY.

Farooq was last seen in the romantic comedy Heer Maan Ja in which she starred and also co-produced.
