The 14-year-old housemaid, Rizwana, who became victim of violence at the hands of a civil judge's wife, has recovered from the torture wounds and was discharged from General Hospital in Lahore on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While talking to the media, Rizwana said she is feeling better now as the doctors, nurses, and other staff of the hospital looked after her very well.

Dr Al-Fareed Zafar of Lahore General Hospital confirmed that the 14-year-old has fully recovered from her injuries.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Javed Akram and officials from the Child Protection Bureau participated in the ceremony of discharging Rizwana from the hospital.

Rizwana underwent several surgeries and other medical procedures at Lahore General Hospital.

Rizwana’s case gained attention in July when her father, Manga Khan, claimed that she had wounds on the back of her head and several smaller, insect-infected injuries when the family reached Islamabad on July 23 to see her.

The family resided in Sargodha, occasionally communicating with Rizwana, who worked at the civil judge’s house in Zarta Housing Society, Islamabad, earning a monthly salary of Rs10,000.

It may be mentioned here that Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition filed by Civil Society under the dismissal of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez in Rizwana torture case and child labor legislation.

During the hearing of the petition, the Chief Justice issued orders to the judicial assistants to submit their detailed response on child labor legislation by January 18.

Moreover, the CJ Amir Farooq referred to the Tayyaba torture case and the Rizwana torture case.

“There is a need to educate, the law is there, only implementation is to be ensured”, Chief Justice Amir Farooq.

It is pertinent to mention here that three judicial assistants appeared in the Islamabad High Court.

Court assistant Maryam Sulaiman asked for time to submit written submissions.

“I will submit a detailed response regarding child labor legislation at the next hearing, judicial assistant”, she said.

Another judicial assistant, Faisal Siddiqui, also sought time to submit a detailed reply on the next hearing whereas the third judicial assistant Zainab Janjua has already submitted the reply.
