Court orders to register case against Balochistan CM, former SSP

Additional Session Judge Court-I Afzal Kakar Saturday ordered Quetta Police to register a case of attempt to murder against the Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal and former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operation Quetta.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the additional session judge gave such orders under Section 22-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1998 that gave him the power to direct registration of the case, if a police officer fails to discharge the statutory obligation under Section 154 CrPC.
The additional session judge ruled on the petition of the opposition members in the Balochistan Assembly including Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Sana Baloch and Akhtar Hussain Langu filed against the CM and the SSP for attacking them with police armored vehicle during the budget session on June 18, 2021.
The members of the provincial assembly filed a writ in the session court and said the official armoured vehicle injured opposition members in the premises of the assembly when they were holding a protest at the behest of the CM and the SSP.
They said they requested police to register their complaint against the CM and the SSP but refused vis versa a case against them was registered from the government with the allegations of violent agitation in the assembly.
The petitioners further told the court that they passed 15 days in the police station to present their arrest but failed as police refused to hold them in the lockups, anyhow, later the government withdrew its case against the opposition.
They appealed to the court to register a case against the CM and the SSP on which, the court ordered the Bijli Ghar Road Police Station for registering the case as per law.
