National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Privileges chairman Rana Qasim Noon moved a motion of the Contempt of Parliament Bill, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that former NA speaker Asad Qaiser had praised the bill, adding that Asad Qaiser was the only speaker who had praised the bill.

State Minister Shahadat Awan said that the bill was very good. “This bill should be sent to the committee concerned. It was needed since long. It should be sent to the committee concerned for one day,” he added.

“Why should we send this bill to the committee? This is the matter of our honour. The judge insults us whenever he wants,” the leader of the opposition said.

“This bill is the matter of dignity of the Parliament, and it should be sent to the committee for further consultation,” Murtaza Javed Abbasi asserted.

Sheikh Rohale Asghar said that Qasim Noon had moved the bill and put a question to the House.

“Now the ministers are asking to send it to the committee. Apart from these ministers, how many members say that the matter should be sent to the committee. It is a strange spectacle. If it is an important matter, why is it being sent to the committee? Is there any legal restriction?” he questioned.

“A special committee was formed, but the members are so non-serious that they do not come,” he added.
