The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) participated in the United Asians Debating Championship 2024, from the 31st of May to the 7th June. This is Asia’s biggest and the world’s second-biggest tournament, where only the best teams participate from across the continent.

The LUMS team comprising Ahmad Bin Tahir, Mustapha Vasi and Marziya Rasheed reached the semi-final of the tournament. On the road to the semis, LUMS defeated the best team in Asia, the National University of Singapore, as well as Malaysia’s top team, Taylor’s University, amongst others from across Asia as well. Daud Kharal ranked amongst Asia’s top 20 speakers.

This is historically Pakistan’s best performance at an international tournament, as the team can now comfortably be called the third-best team in Asia.
