Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Asmatullah and his brother passed away, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The funeral will be held tomorrow in Quetta. JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman extended his condolence to the bereaved family.

He paid tribute to Maulana Asmatullah for his lifelong services, saying: "The former lawmaker was a scholar and humble person."

Fazl added: “Maulana Asmatullah was a dignified and loyal leader. His services to parliament and democracy will be remembered.

“This is a great loss for JUI. His services are a source of pride for the party and a beacon for us.”

He prayed the Almighty may rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
