PML-N govt decides to continue PTI’s Green Pakistan project

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) government has decided to continue an important project ‘Green Pakistan’ of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) era in the next financial year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to sources, more than 300 percent increase in the budget of Green Pakistan programme for the new financial year is proposed.

The sources said that the government proposed an allocation of Rs15.62 billion for the Green Pakistan programme in the next financial year.

This programme was started during the PTI era under the name of Ten Billion Tree Tsunami.

The sources further said that Rs3.90 billion were earmarked for the Green Pakistan programme in the current financial year.

Rs29.56 billion have been spent on Green Pakistan programme till June 2024, the sources said.

Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Program in 2019, sources added.

Ecnek had approved this project at a cost of Rs125.184 billion.
