Scotland set 109-run target against England due to DLS method

Scotland set a target of 109 runs in 10 overs against England in a clash of the T20 World Cup being played at Bridgetown on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The match was greatly interrupted by rain as the match was stopped for about two hours due to persistent rain in Barbados after which it was reduced to 10 overs.

However, due to the DLS method, the target was increased to 109 runs.

George Munsey (41 off 31) and Michael Jones (45 off 39) were the only Scottish batters to bat.

Nepal set 106 runs target to Netherlands in T20I clash

The Netherlands have restricted Nepal to 106 after opting to bowl first in match No.7 of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Tuesday at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pacer Logan van Beek starred with three wickets while skipper Tim Pringle also took as many, dominating against the opposition.

Nepal didn't have a good start to the innings wickets Pringle dismissing wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh. Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for 7 runs off 10 balls, falling to an lbw by van Beek

Anil Sah contributed 11 runs from 12 balls, succumbing to a catch by van Beek on the bowling of Pringle. 


Skipper Rohit Paudel, made a significant effort with 35 runs from 37 balls but was eventually removed by Pringle. Gulsan Jha contributed at the backend with 14 rums while Karan KC scored a quick 17 runs from 12 balls, including two sixes.

Pringle bowled figures of 2/20 in his four-over spell while Van Beek finished with 3/18. Paul van Meekeren contributed effectively with his 4 overs, taking 2 wickets for 19 runs while Bas de Leede managed to take 2 wickets for 22 runs.

Afghanistan beat Uganda in T20 World Cup

Afghanistan defeated Uganda in the World Cup T20, Group C match on Tuesday. Afghanistan scored 183 runs but the entire Ugandan team got out after scoring 58 runs only.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz blasted 76 as Afghanistan dominated T20 World Cup debutants Uganda to score 183-5 in their Group C clash in Guyana on Monday.

Uganda were given a brutal introduction to elite tournament cricket after winning the toss and opting to bowl as Gurbaz and fellow opener Ibrahim Zadran cut loose at Providence Stadium.

Gurbaz's knock came off 45 balls and included four fours and four sixes.

Nortje stars as South Africa crush Sri Lanka in T20I clash

South Africa achieved the target of 78 runs set by Sri Lanka in 16.2 overs after losing only four wickets in the fourth T20I match of the World Cup 2024 played at New York's Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Proteas chased the target of 78 in the 17th over. Quinton de Kock was the top-scorer for South Africa, making 20 off 27. Heinrich Klassen remained unbeaten on 19*.

Earlier, South Africa’s bowlers rattled Sri Lankan’s batting line as they could post only 77 runs for all out in 19.1 overs.

Anrich Nortje took four wickets for seven runs in four overs.  

Sri Lanka finished their batting innings on 77 – their lowest total in all T20 internationals.

ICC announces record prize money for T20 World Cup 2024

ICC have announced a record-breaking prize fund of $11.25 million USD for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, with the winners set to receive at least $2.45 million.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 winners will receive the highest amount in the tournament's history.

This ninth edition will see 20 teams competing over 28 days across nine venues in the West Indies and USA, making it the largest event of its kind.

The runners-up will earn at least $1.28 million, while the losing semi-finalists will take home $787,500 each. Teams that do not advance past the second round will receive $382,500 each, and those finishing between ninth and 12th place will get $247,500 each.

Teams ranking from 13th to 20th place will each earn $225,000. Additionally, every team will receive an extra $31,154 for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.

 

Namibia beat Oman in T20 World Cup super-over thriller

Namibia scored a nerve-shredding victory over Oman in their T20 World Cup Group B clash in Barbados on Sunday after a low-scoring thriller was decided by a super over.

David Wiese was the hero for Namibia, contributing 13 runs in the Africans' super over total of 21 before then restricting Oman to 10 runs with the ball in hand to seal a crucial win at Kensington Oval.

The match had gone to a decisive extra over after a tense duel saw both teams finish with 109 runs from their allotted 20 overs.

Oman had looked to be heading for defeat after a superb four-wicket bowling display from Ruben Trumpelmann saw them all out for 109 off 19.4 overs.

But Oman's bowlers responded with a disciplined performance to contain Namibia's bats, with Mehran Khan conjuring a superb spell to leave the match on a knife edge.

West Indies thrash PNG by five wickets after surviving big scare

West Indies Sunday thrashed Papua New Guinea by five wickets after chasing down 137 with 6 balls to spare in the 2nd T20I match of World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

 Roston Chase scored 42 runs to help the Caribbean team past the finish line.

Chasing a target of 137 runs, West Indies suffered an early blow losing Johnson Charles quite early with not much on the board. Things could have been worse if PNG took a review as Nicholas Pooran was out LBW but got a reprieve.

However, Brandon King looked like he was batting on a different surface as he was only dealing in boundaries. The duo added 53 runs together with the hosts firmly in control of the game.
