Police recover weapons, explosives in Islamabad operation

In one of the intelligence-based operations conducted in Islamabad to prevent any terror attack during the holy month of Muharram, police saved the federal capital from a disaster by recovering Kalashnikov rifles, hand grenades, detonators and suicide jackets from Sangjani area of the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.  

Keeping in view security threats during the holy month, Islamabad Police are conducting operations on a daily basis.

The Force said that when cops went to Sangjani area for the operation, they saw some outlaws along with weapons and explosives.

But as soon as they saw the police, they fled from the spot while firing into the air, the Force said, adding the weapons and explosives were now in the possession of the cops and a hunt had been launched for the ‘terrorists’.

The police informed that the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the area and defused the explosive material while an FIR had been registered at a CTD station.  

Two criminals injured in police encounter

Motorcyclists opened fire on police officers during checking at a police picket in Shehzad Town area of Islamabad.

However, police arrested two accused while one accused managed to escape while firing.

According to police, two accused were injured in the firing of the co-accused and were shifted to the hospital.

The arrested accused were wanted in several cases including terrorism.

Teams have been formed to arrest the absconding accused.

The police team was deployed for routine patrolling and snap checking.

Meanwhile, three motorcyclists were stopped by the police for checking, who opened fire on the police.
