Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola presented the resolution on behalf of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and other members of the Pakistan People's Party.
The resolution stated that the country's first prime minister, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was sentenced to death without fulfilling the requirements of justice 45 years ago.
The house should approve April 4, 2024 (Thursday) as a public holiday on the occasion of the 45th Martyrdom anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto throughout the province of Balochistan, it maintained, adding that the Supreme Court, in a landmark ruling, accepted that the execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not just a legal verdict but a travesty of justice, labelling it as a judicial murder.
In the light of the services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the opinion of the Supreme Court, the house recommends approaching the federal government and declaring a gazetted holiday on April 4. The assembly accepted the resolution and adjourned the session for an indefinite period.
