Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that during the cabinet meeting held yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set targets for all federal ministries which will be achieved during the next five years as per IMF directives, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Addressing a press conference in Model Town Lahore, the Federal Minister said short-term, medium-term, and long-term targets were given to all the ministries.


He said the performance of every ministry will be evaluated and a system was being developed to monitor the performance of each ministry.


He claimed that all Ministries will be monitored using modern technology. He claimed that the finance ministry was tasked with boosting growth, eliminating unemployment and digitizing the FBR.


He said with the help of the new system, the ministries will be monitored.  


Regarding IT and textile exports, Tarar said the Ministry of Interior was tasked with eliminating illegal arms, and foreigners' security besides smuggling.


Federal Minister said former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani is a well-known, undisputed figure and entire Pakistan knows he was an honest and dutiful judge.


He said the PM set up a commission under the chairmanship of Tassaduq Hussain Jillani to probe the allegation raised by the Islamabad High Court judges.


He hoped Jillani was capable of carrying out his responsibility in an efficient manner. He claimed no matter has come before the government regarding the health of Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.


He claimed that the government will take steps to open offices of social media platforms in Pakistan.


Federal Information Minister said the Prime Minister's focus was to put the burden on those who can bear it. He hoped govt would announce more relief for the public in the coming days.


He claimed government will take steps to bring a system to promote trade with the collaboration of educational institutions and industries.


Attaullah Tarar said the govt will set targets for the increase of billions of dollars in exports to the Gulf countries by December 2027.


He said targets related to trade agreements between friendly countries have also been given.


Federal Information Minister said the Ministry of Commerce was given a target to approve the National Industrial Policy in the Cabinet by April 30, 2024.


He said the government has set targets to increase exports of the mineral sector.  


Federal Information Minister said clear targets have been given to the Education Ministry regarding the admission of out-of-school children to schools.


Atta Tarar said PIA's matters with commercial banks have been settled amicably. He said privatization of PIA will have a positive impact on the economy.


Federal Information Minister claimed Cabinet members were not getting salaries and benefits.


He said the committee was set up on how to reduce government expenditure and the committee will submit a report in the next few days.


In the cabinet there are representatives of the people, they are accountable to the people. The people of Pakistan will continue to be informed about these goals through the media.


The value of rupee has stabilized due to the economic measures of PM Shehbaz Sharif, while stock market was also witnessing a boom.


The Minister of Finance has focused heavily on the issues of economic development.


He said PM Shehbaz Sharif has issued a 70-page document to the ministries for all sectors including economy, trade, IT exports, promotion of industry, ease of doing business. These are historic measures, they will ease the problems of the people. This system is moving towards effective implementation.


Ataullah Tarrar said PIA has an annual loss of 80 billion rupees. Federal Information Minister said all matters regarding privatization of PIA have been finalized with seriousness and consideration.
